KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 152.182 out of wedlock recorded Ministry of Women, Family and Community from 2008 to 2010.
Deputy Minister, Heng Seai Kie said, of the total, Sabah recorded the highest with 41.490, followed by Selangor (18.983) and Sarawak (17.570).
He said the National Population and Family Development (LPPKN), has formed a strategic partnership with the National Service Training Department for the integration of reproductive health education and social services.
"The program involves 64.000 on education and risk youth who have encountered because of their actions," he said when questioned by Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafee (BN-Setiu) in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
Mohd Jidin want to know how many children out of wedlock recorded since 2008, the source of the problem and initiatives to curb the ministry.
Seai Kie said, six youth centers established for the target group aged between 13 and 24 years, to provide information on psychosocial issues, including providing counseling services and life skills.
"Outreach program conducted in schools and local communities managed to reach 257.147 teens, by 4.698 program from November 2005 to September 2011," he said.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin told the hall that 24.813 people, admitted to hospital because of mental problems related to last year.
"So far, we have four mental institutions across the country, 42 hospitals that provide treatment services, mental, and 124 experts in the field," he said to a question by Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman (Pas-Pengkalan Chepa).
She said, efforts are underway to increase public awareness and sensitivity of people to identify early signs of potential and treated early. - Bernama
