NEW DELHI - Indian car manufacturer, Tata Motors made yesterday ordered an investigation after a cheesy yet compact car, Tata Nano world cheapest car labeled a sudden fire.
Heralded in 2008 as a starter car transport revolution in India, the Nano car sales decline due to concerns over the safety of the vehicle, the problem of production and a slowdown in economic growth.
"A fire Nano car here yesterday. We have sent an engineer to conduct an investigation team. We need time to investigate the case," said a spokesman for Tata Motors, Debasis Ray.
He said the car manufacturer will contact the car owners involved.
Earlier, local daily The Times of India reported that the brothers had managed to escape after the car suddenly caught fire involved.
Last year, Tata Motors had to offer increased security features Nano free after several cars on fire in various incidents, but the firm argued that the car did not have a problem.
The basic model sells for Nano car as cheap as U.S. $ 2,500 (RM7, 956). - AFP
