Clooney, Ronaldo prostitutes so the witness case

MILAN - An Italian court yesterday ruled that the actor George Clooney and Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo may be called to testify in the case of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has sex with an underage prostitute.

Berlusconi's lawyers want Clooney and Ronaldo helped former Prime Minister faced allegations to pay to have sex with a girl aged 17 years.

The former prime minister also charged with using his powers to free her from police custody.

Ronaldo and Clooney are among the 78 witnesses, including several former ministers and a singer called as a defense witness, said an official of the court.

The prosecution called 136 witnesses, including the girl who became the focus of the case, Karima El Mahroug Berlusconi allegedly subscribed.

Passage of interrogation leak Italian newspapers published reports that Karima said Berlusconi's party as a party organized by the flowers.

Syrian Arab League membership suspended

CAIRO, Egypt - Arab League acted to suspend the membership of Syria in the body following the brutal actions of the Syrian government to break the people's country for the past eight months ago.

The decision was announced on Tuesday gave a blow to Syria that had been deemed as the last bastion of nationalism of the Arab world.

However, it is seen to be unable to immediately end the violence in Syria, killing more than 3,500 people since the people of that country rise up to urge President Bashar Al-Assad resigned in mid-March.

"Syria is a country that we love and we make this decision with a heavy heart," said Foreign Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim.

"We hope that Syria will take bold action to end violence and begin a dialogue on reform in the country," he added.

Meanwhile, the Syrian capital, Damascus, the pro-government protesters threw eggs and tomatoes toward the Embassy of Qatar in protest at the decision.

All 22 members of the Arab League will monitor the situation in Syria prior to reconsider its decision at a meeting in Rabat, Morocco, the day after tomorrow. - AP
